This Artistry of Ours
In 2022, artist Boden Him, and former made-man, Michael Franzese, crossed paths at a wine tasting event—an encounter that would spark both a friendship and a powerful artistic collaboration. Drawn together by their shared appreciation for history, transformation, and storytelling, the two joined forces the following year to create Golden Era Collections, a project that merges fine art with the controversial, complex history of the mafia.
At the heart of their collaboration is “Cosa Nostra II: Deree of Omertà,” a striking oil painting that blends Boden’s masterful artistry with Michael’s firsthand knowledge of Cosa Nostra. Boden dedicated 400 hours over 10 months to meticulously creating the piece, applying each brushstroke with precision. Throughout the process, he consulted with Michael, whose advisory ensured the artwork’s authenticity and rich historical detail.
Golden Era Collections continues to grow, offering the world an exclusive glimpse into the hidden history of organized crime through evocative portraits. More than just another art project, it stands as a testament to transformation, legacy, and the power of storytelling through visual expression.

Michael Franzese
Born and raised in New York, Michael Franzese was the son of a feared underboss. Rising through the ranks of the Colombo crime family, he became a caporegime and earned the infamous title of “The Prince of the Mafia.” Deeply entrenched in Cosa Nostra, he was involved in various illegal enterprises, navigating a world of power, loyalty, and danger. However, after multiple legal battles and time behind bars, he made the life-altering decision to walk away—a move that, in his world, often comes at the ultimate cost.
Despite his turbulent past, Michael has transformed his life, proving that change is always possible. Today, he is a respected public speaker, sharing his story of redemption and inspiring audiences worldwide. Through books, documentaries, and speaking engagements, he uses his platform to advocate for positive change, offering a rare and powerful perspective on transformation. His journey from mobster to mentor stands as a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of repentance.
